Post-Disaster Recovery and Development

Aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 focus on resilience, sustainability, and national preparedness, this course explores how post-disaster recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction can transform communities and ensure they “Build Back Better.” Disasters often reveal the urgent need for recovery strategies that not only restore infrastructure and economies but also create safer, more sustainable, and resilient societies.

Participants will examine approaches to plan and implement recovery phases that balance the urgency to rebuild with the need for safety, sustainability, and community consultation. The course highlights the importance of leadership, coordination, financial planning, and operational readiness—including the need to pre-assign resources and establish mechanisms before disasters strike.

Through global lessons and case studies, delegates will gain practical skills to design and execute effective recovery and reconstruction programs, empowering communities to rebuild housing, livelihoods, and essential services while strengthening long-term resilience.
