This speaker has over 20 years of experience working on research, education and advocacy in disaster risk reduction. His international work has spanned over 50 countries, leading inter-sectoral and inter-disciplinary teams to deliver impact-driven projects in multi-hazard early warning, disaster risk governance and resilience in the built environment.

He is an expert member of the UNESCO-IOC Working Group 1 of the Intergovernmental Coordination Group on the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (ICG/IOTWMS). He is an Affiliated Professor at a leading UK University and he has published over 100 peer reviewed articles including two books and many book chapters.
